Fika Bageri was born from a longing for home.
Born and raised in Sweden, I moved to the UK when I was 10 but my love for Swedish baking never left me. Years later, while on maternity leave, I found myself craving the familiar comfort of Swedish fika. A warm freshly baked kanelbulle, a cup of coffee and that little moment in the day where you can simply slow down.
So I started baking at home.
What began as a craving for the flavours I grew up with soon became a dream. I wanted to share authentic Swedish fika with others and bring a little piece of Sweden to Birmingham.
Fika is more than just coffee and cake. It’s about taking a moment to pause, slow down and enjoy something sweet with a cup of coffee. Life can be busy and sometimes we all need that little break.
That feeling is at the heart of Fika Bageri.
Our name is inspired by exactly that. Taking life one moment at a time, making time for the simple pleasures and sharing them with others.
At Fika Bageri everything is handmade by me in small batches using authentic Swedish recipes and carefully selected Swedish ingredients.
From our beautifully spiced kanelbullar and cardamom buns to Kärleksmums, kokosbollar and our much loved Prinsesstårta, every piece is made with patience, care and most importantly love.
We believe good baking takes time. That’s why we prepare everything carefully and bake in small batches. This allows us to focus on quality and make sure every bake is just right.
Our inspiration comes from the Swedish baking traditions we know and love as well as Sweden’s baking queen Camilla Hamid whose passion for Swedish baking has been a huge inspiration behind Fika Bageri.
Fika Bageri is a small independent bakery with a simple mission. To bring authentic Swedish baking to Birmingham and create those little moments of happiness that make you stop, take a sip of coffee and enjoy something delicious.
